01 · OUR FULL STORY
Why we started CoreGPS.
CoreGPS started because we wanted to make reliable GPS tracking more accessible to people tracking their own cars, caravans and equipment.
Our experience comes from running a fleet management business that has been operating since 2011. Over those years, we’ve seen firsthand what works, what doesn’t, and how important reliable tracking becomes when people depend on it every day.
We saw an opportunity to bring that experience to everyday vehicle owners. People tracking one or two vehicles deserve quality hardware, a capable platform and someone who answers the phone, at a price that makes sense.
What frustrated us was how much of the consumer GPS market seemed to consist of rebadged overseas trackers, generic apps, questionable hardware, tracking data sent overseas and support that often disappeared the moment something went wrong.
That didn’t sit well with us.
A GPS tracker is one of those products you hope you never genuinely need. But if the day comes when your car, caravan or equipment disappears, you need to know the tracker is going to work, the platform is going to be there, and there is an actual person you can speak to if you need help.
So we built CoreGPS around what we wanted as customers ourselves, backed by years of practical experience with vehicle tracking. Our aim was affordable tracking for your own vehicles, with the depth of features you would expect from a fleet tracking platform.
We chose hardware we were comfortable installing in our own vehicles. We built and operate the tracking platform Australians use to monitor them. We include a managed SIM card that can connect to Telstra, Optus and Vodafone, because coverage matters more than being tied to a single telco. And we keep our systems here in Australia because we want control over the service we are putting our name behind.
We still test things the same way today.
Every tracker we sell is running on our own vehicles first. If it doesn’t earn its keep in our driveway, it doesn’t go in the store.
We’re a small Australian family business based in Victoria. We’re not trying to be the biggest GPS company in Australia.
We’d rather be the one that builds a good product, knows how it works, and answers the phone when you need us.
